Free Bags and Books for Students in Punjab

Free Bags and Books for Students in Punjab

Punjab is one of the densely populated province of Punjab and for sure, it has some of the best educational institutes. Lahore is host to many big campuses and offering degrees in almost all the fields however the basic education system which include primary and secondary education at the government operated schools are still not in a very good states. Even in cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan the schools are not meeting the international standard of education. The southern districts like Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur etc are being completely ignored and the condition of the school and overall system is pretty abysmal.

Punjab government however is committed to bring reforms in the region and especially in the education sector. Even the government has allocated 20 percent more education budget in the year of 2017 than what was allocated back in 2016. New projects and reform drives are being launched with every day passing and with right leadership the picture can change altogether in the years to come.

One of the reforms that the government is trying to bring in is to be able to provide the books and bags to the students because one of the major reason why the parents are not able to send their kids to the school is not being able to provide them these things financially.
Poverty is what keeps the kids out of school and to cover that end and increase enrollment, the government has decided to distribute the textbooks and bags free of cost to the students so that no child is kept out of school due to poverty and get an equal right to education.

In the first phase of the initiative the students of Prep, one, two and three standards will be receiving free textbooks and bags from the students. The drive will launch from the provincial capital Lahore and then they will start from the backward areas like Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Tobe Tek Singh. It is very commendable that the most ignore districts are given a chance in the first phase and they are in the dire need of these facilities. Also the stats suggest that most out of school children are from the southern part of Punjab.

It also shows that the government wants to give the due attention to the southern districts of the province which have been recently ignored. Also the students who are in dire need of these free facilities should be given preference so that a poor child gets its way to education.

Apart from the provision of free books and bags, government is also working for providing the electricity, wash room facilities and proper class rooms to facilitate the teachers and kids properly and to maintain the interest of the kids and the parents to keep sending their children to schools. The government is also looking forward to hire qualified teachers and to train the already hired teachers with adequate teaching methodologies to shape the future properly.
